The Keck School of Medicine of USC Dean’s Office oversees the following areas: medical and graduate education, space planning, budget and finance, research and strategic communications. The Dean’s Office is dedicated to providing the top-notch administrative and financial infrastructure necessary to further the mission of the Keck School of Medicine – to educate future physicians, scientists and citizens through multidisciplinary training in the hopes to improve the overall health of society.

It is the overarching goal of all the administrative offices under the Dean’s Office to be the primary contact between the School and the various administrative units of the University – effectively bridging any gaps and servicing the Keck School and all of its constituencies.

Keck School of Medicine Finance & Budget

The Office of Finance & Budget oversees all of the financial matters pertaining to the Keck School of Medicine, including the monitoring and reporting of all financial activity. The principal functions of the Keck School of Medicine Office of Finance & Budget are as follows:

• Serving as the primary interface with the University Comptroller’s Office as well as the Office of Budget and Planning
• Overseeing the annual budgeting process at the Keck School of Medicine
• Compiling financial reports for management, University departments and outside entities
• Acting as a resource regarding University financial policies and procedures
• Providing assistance to departments and staff regarding financial and related matters

Human Resources

The Office of Human Resources provides all KSOM staff (not including faculty or Keck Medical Center employees) with guidance and support regarding various HR functions. These functions include interpretation of USC policies and procedures, recruitment and onboarding, performance management, employee relations, layoff/reorganization procedures, Workday payroll support, leave benefits, and any other HR-related services and needs.

Office for Faculty Affairs

The Office for Faculty Affairs at the Keck School of Medicine of USC assists faculty by providing support for development and mentoring and providing guidance for appointment, tenure and promotion. The Office for Faculty Affairs also advises department chairs and administrative offices on procedures regarding recruitment of new faculty, compensation and leaves of absence.

Research Administration

The Office of Research Administration provides leadership and resources to develop and support cutting-edge research, from bench to bedside to community, across the Keck School and with collaborators across USC. The Office also aims to provide outstanding opportunities in research training and career development in order to keep the Keck School talent pool strong. Additionally, the Office of Research Administration plays a large role in implementing the School’s strategic plan for research. The Office promotes and coordinates research activities across the school and provides support to the faculty in their research endeavors.
